Assumptions are made that conclude that of all people of Hispanic decent are involved in dugs, shooting or gangs and are never associated with knowledge, success or wealth. For example, in Modern Family, Gloria’s character is the comedic relief within the show. This shows that she is not taken seriously and the other cast members that she is surrounded by laugh at her lack of knowledge throughout the show. The women presented in these types of popular series also have similar story lines, which have contributed to creating the stereotype of the Hispanic woman in popular culture. This goes to show that media conglomerates have the power to persuade viewers into thinking that everything that is presented to viewers is real or based off of real facts. When in fact, a majority of the content presented to viewers is structured to get individuals to continue to watch in order to make money. Large companies do this, even if that means creating a negative atmosphere around a certain culture or hypersexualizing a single woman in a television series. The message that these media companies are sending are skewed and run along the lines of persuading viewers that all Hispanic women are loud, unintelligent, busty, and need someone of another decent to help them through any struggles.
