When people think of Hispanic foods they think hot, spicy foods, lots of flavor, rice and beans, and tortillas. When people think this they are not wrong, Hispanic food is a flavorful and many spices are used; the culture and its people’s customs have much to do with this. According to Grace Austin and Damian Johnson of Diversity Journal “the term Hispanic alludes to a person’s place of origin, referring to persons from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Central and South America.” Since there are many different sub groups within the term Hispanic, I will narrow it down to the Mexican culture since each subgroup does vary in the foods they choose to eat and the spices they mix in.
