Hiroshima Bombing Justified

There have been many things the United States has done that may be controversial. One of the major debates that has went on for decades is whether the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was justified. Many people believed it was wrong and ungodly, while, other believe it was the best strategy at the time. There a re solid points on both side of the controversy, but at the time of war with Russia coming into the pacific war and many other reason meaning the bombing using nukes could have been avoided. In the end, everyone will have there own opions but with a little more patients from the united states the killing of many civilians using Nuclear weapons in japan ould have been avoided as a result of Russia coming into the war, Japan not being …show more content…
Almost 80,000 died instantly at Hiroshima while the rest died later of radiation poisoning and other aftermath. Although many people fail to mention that there were American civilians present in Hiroshima and Nagasaki when the bombs were dropped, nut this was “pushed under the carpet” to make the bombing look good. The united states missed a major opportunity to avoid the use of nuclear weapons in japan by not giving a public demonstration of the power of the U.S. new nuclear bomb. This may have been the solution to ending the war without bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Although the United States believed bombing the cities would show more of a intimidation fact then a demonstration would. This arms race would intensify as the Cold War starts making it even worse. The attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were a “beginning of a new era” setting the world into the nuclear age resulting in nuclear test that would contaminate the world with deal radioactive radiation (sodei). The initial dropping and detonation of the bomb killed many people but the radiation was the true silent killer. Even to modern day survivors of this massacre still suffer from medical issues due to radiation. One of the reason the U.S. wanted to use Atomic Bombs is to show Russia the new weapon we had, but at the time of the use of the nuclear weapon we developed the Russians already were working on one of their own. They had spy’s stealing our plans as we developed our first bomb. As the united states made stronger bomb so did other countries according to Sodei, Rin Jiro in his article “Hiroshima/Nagasaki as History and Politics” “As the Cold War intensified, the United States devoted itself to enhancing this awesome power; the Soviets followed suit, and then Great Britain, China, and France.” This would continue until eventually the bombs began to get to large with the biggest ever being tested by Russia.
