Residents in Hiroshima knew an air raid was fast approaching; the country’s enemy had bombed the majority of the city, and the people living in Hiroshima knew their time had come to face the bombings. What the people of Hiroshima did not know is that the American’s had established a new kind of bomb that would have a devastating effect on the people. From the journal written by Giamo (705), an A-bomb was dropped on the city of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, the bomb killed one hundred thousand people. According to the people of Hiroshima, the bomb made a bright flash with no sound, there was great panic and confusion in the entire city after the All-Clear had sounded moments a few moments before the bomb touched the ground.

Miss Sasaki called for help saying her leg has been cut off, the person heard her cries and dug up the books until Miss Sasaki saw him; the person saw that Miss Sasaki was pinned by the bookshelf, he immediately climbed to the lower level floor to try and find Miss Sasaki. The man found no help and hence talked to Miss Sasaki informing her to try and get out of the wreckage by herself, a few minutes later, several men came in a dragged Miss Sasaki out. At this moment, she discovered her leg was badly broken, even though it was not cut off, it was raining outside, and she sat down unable to move. A man came from nowhere and carried her to a shelter from the rain, two other grotesques were brought, it was a hot afternoon and the people brought to the shelter with Miss Sasaki smelled bad. Throughout the night, the people sat quietly and no one was able to fall asleep, together with the two others, Miss Sasaki stayed there for two days and two nights. Miss Sasaki’s legs started losing color, it began swelling and was putrid, some of her friends came looking for her the third day, it was from these friends that she got informed that her mother, father and the brother passed away, Miss Sasaki was taken to a military hospital located on the nearby
