When the USSR, Stalin, FDR, and Churchill first met to decide what will happen to Germany, Stalin, “promises to declare war on Japan after Germany is defeated.” But later, at Potsdam, he promises “to take his troops out of Eastern Europe,” but lies (from our notes). When the USSR did not take its troops out of Eastern Europe, it led there to be communism when it came to voting. The U.S. wanted Eastern Europe to decide on their own what type of government they wanted, hoping it would be democracy. But with the influence of Stalin it was communism. When the U.S. dropped the bombs on Japan it ended the war, meaning the USSR wouldn’t enter and take over land like it did back in Germany. The U.S. showed their strength and power by dropping the bombs to show that they don 't need help from the USSR.
