Hiring Replacement Workers

From my viewpoint, hiring replacement workers immediately after a strike undercut the union, due to the significance of a strike. First, when workers strike, the intent is to attain a certain service or benefit as a condition of employment, in which work should cease. When management hires replacement worker, the company suffers no hardship with production, which in turn makes negotiating more difficult. Not to mention, the length of the strike can prolong longer than expected because replacement workers are getting the job done, versus no employees working, affecting all functions of the organization, primarily profit. Also, allowing immediate hires gives the perception that unionized companies are operating or functioning as a nonunion company.
