Audience:
My audience is business owners who are not overly religious and have a more conservative traditional view about what the employee work appearance should be. They would be willing to start looking at the qualifications of an applicant as opposed to judging them on personal appearance. They are right now most likely to pass up a person with tattoos based on stereotypes about the type of person who would have tattoos. I believe that business owners are just trying to do what is best for their businesses but might be missing out on someone who would be a valuable addition to their staff. Getting employers to start including people with acceptable visible tattoos into their work staff and creating tolerance for people who are into tattoos, along with being great employees.
To Hire Ink or Not To Hire Ink As you head into your office you pass through the waiting room seeing a group of hopeful applicants waiting for their interviews. One person catches your eye, but you are not happy about what you see. They have tattoos on their arms. Nothing vulgar or objectionable, but definitely enough tattoos that you can’t miss them. Now you wish that you knew that person’s name. You take a guess that the person with tattoos is the one person who applied that had the least qualifications. The people who work for a company are the driving force behind its success. Allowing the freedom of self-expression creates a work place that is enjoyable to go to. If an employee is happy at their job, they will perform better and will be more likely to follow the rules and policies, if they are fair. Also, stress is abated for the employer if the polices are clear and it can easily be used to answer future questions as to what is acceptable. The old controversy of facial hair or if women are required to wear dresses has now evolved. What is or is not considered acceptable in regards to visible tattoos? (Roberts) Tattoos, and the people who have them, should no longer be considers outlaws, criminals, and delinquents. They are: moms, dads, teachers, doctors, military, or anyone with great qualifications applying for a job with your company. Don’t pass on hiring a great employee just because they have tattoos.
