Euthanasia has been around for a long time, in ancient times people were much more tolerant of suicide in general and it has gone through many phases over the course of human history, but just as much as they may have been more tolerant one of the first promanent people against euthanasia was Hippocrates. Hippocrates is famous for the Hippocratic Oath which specifically slated against euthanasia stating that the physician should not give poison to anyone or counsel them to do so. (procon.org 2015)

I have had to put down several animals throughout my lifetime, and as hard as it is I believe that it is more the humane thing to do when they are suffering so much. I feel very differently about euthanizing people, as I feel that there are too many ways that we can medically make people comfortable and almost pain free as they are dying. I also know that there is a quality of life argument, but I don't think that this viewpoint holds a lot of credence as there can be some joy in any circumstance, even if the person loses the use of their limbs, or something even more severe. I just think it is killing someone, and I don't think that killing anyone should be condoned for any other reason than self
