Purpose: Recent advancements in joint replacement surgical techniques and perioperative protocols have reduced the necessary duration of patient hospitalization and corresponding length of recovery, thus allowing surgeons to perform hip replacement as an outpatient procedure. Reports are available on outpatient total hip arthroplasty, but there is currently no such literature for hip resurfacing arthroplasty. This study aims to evaluate the cost-effectiveness and safety of hip resurfacing performed as an outpatient surgery.
