Trochanteric Hip Bursitis Treatment
Trochanteric bursitis is inflammation of the bursa at the outside point of the hip. A bursa is a fluid filled sack near a joint. This sack functions as gliding surface to reduce friction between body tissues. The plural of bursa is bursae. The major bursae are usually located near large joints such as elbows, shoulders, knees and hips. The hip has two major bursae; ischial bursa and trochanteric bursa. Trochanteric bursa is found on the side of the hip, separated from the actual hip joint by bone and tissue. Inflammation on either bursae is associated with pain and stiffness around the hip joint.
Causes of hip bursitis
Bursitis is commonly caused by inflammation that results from strain injury or soft-tissue trauma. This condition is noninfectious. But, there are some rare cases where patients get bacterial infection. Hip bursitis is the common cause of hip pain.

Noninfectious hip bursitis is treated with pain and anti-inflammatory medications, ice compresses or rest.
