The followers of the Hindu and Islam religions have been fighting each other for hundreds of years. This conflict has varied from hateful arguments to heinous acts of violence. The problems these two religions have with each other mainly stem from both sides focusing on differences and not considering what the opposing side is going through. There have been many attempts made to quell this ongoing feud. Sadly, none have been successful. The way to end this senseless aggression is to breed understanding through overall religious education. Hinduism and Islam have many differences that often divide both religions’ followers. For example, an important Muslim value is comradery. The Koran tells Muslims to treat each other like brothers. Hinduism ,on the other hand, has the caste system which segregates its members. They do have a major similarity though. Hindus and Muslims both take their faiths very seriously. Their faiths shape their lives more than any other religion. Both Muslims and Hindus have strict dietary restrictions due to their religions. Muslims abstain from pork because pigs are seen as disgusting creatures. Hindus abstain from beef because they view cows as holy. While the reasonings for these restrictions are different, it still shows the common value of devotion between the two types of people. Meals are not the only aspect in which daily lives are affected by these two religions. Muslims participate in prayer up to five times a day which must be scheduled throughout the day. More drastically, Hindus whole lives are affected by the caste system which determines what they will do and how they will be treated. The followers of these two religions should see how important religion is to one another and see things in a more empathetic light.
