A package that includes a room with two queen beds, a three day stay, includes a 20% discount for room service during breakfast hours only. In addition, this package requires you to book three months ahead with a deposit to book the rooms. In order to avoid cancellations this package requires a stay for the three days while the tournament is being held. Many teams will find this package beneficial because it will be more expensive for them to book the days individually plus they have to book in advance just to make sure they have a place to stay during the tournament. One important detail about the package is that the teams are responsible for booking and paying the deposit fee three months ahead so the hotel is able to see how many rooms they will have available during the week of the tournament. This package is a way to avoid cancellation and avoid teams booking last minute stays. It can help increase profits and have the hotel rooms full during the tournament. Since the tournament is being held from Friday to Tuesday many teams will need to stay at least three days so they will find it beneficial to get the three day stay …show more content…
Group rates should be set for the amount of days listed on the guest’s contract. Ideally, the hotel would want the rooms booked for the entire duration of the tournament. Group rates are booked weeks, months, and even years in advance to allow for a discounted rate with the anticipation of filling the room for the time slotted. If teams eliminated were allowed to cancel their contract and leave early, this can result in a loss of profit since finding other guests to fill the vacancy at such a short notice can be difficult. Instead of allowing teams to leave earlier than contracted, offering coupons or discounts for the bar-restaurant area or Pavilion Pantry may be a better option. In addition, the hotel already decided to book the rooms for the teams and other guests who may have called may had been rejected due to full capacity. The hotel has to think in advance and acknowledge that the teams are better off booking the full stay so they are able to keep their profits. Most hotel policies require guests to stay until the end of their reservations and if they cancel, guests either pay a fee for cancellation or do not get their money back. Financially, it is best to not offer a lenient policy for teams eliminated

Mayor Erin Stewart is hoping with the new baseball team coming to town, it will revitalize the city once again. However, economical experts seem to believe the New Britain Bees will not cause an economic boom as hoped for. Donn M. Johnson, a Interim Chair of Economics and a professor of Sports Economics at Quinnipiac University, suggests that bringing a new team to a town does little to none economical improvement. According to Johnson, if the people who are going to the games are largely local then it is just arranging the way town citizens use their money. For example, the eight dollars used to buy a game ticket could instead be used to buy a small pizza pie from a local business owner.…
