Emotions In Hills Like White Elephants, By Ernest Hemingway

The short story, “Hills Like White Elephants” was written by Ernest Hemingway, and was originally published in 1927. Mr. Hemingway didn’t put a lot in his stories, he made his stories you use your mind to understand. He uses many words to help guide you in the direction of the main reason for the story. In, “Hills Like White Elephants” Hemingway used three important motives: White Elephant, Train Station, and Operation. Those three play an important part throughout the entire story. With that said, the White Elephant symbolized something that they didn’t want, the Train Station symbolized them heading in different routes, and the Operation symbolized an abortion. I also believe it’s not right to push someone into something as serious as an abortion. These types of procedures cause tons of pain on many people. With that said not everyone can just get up and be like, “I want this procedure done,” people need time to think and try to understand what’s going on. Life is something very important to many people, you just never know what someone is feeling. Therefore, that’s why I believe, before something like that happens have a supportive partner, things may go a little better. I honestly didn’t agree with this text. I feel like the things that went down in the story were very faulty. Also, the girl, instead of being called a woman, she was called a girl, she was a young at that going through a super tough decision. As well as, not having any support at all. I feel like you should always have someone to count on during times like that, good or bad. “"I love you now. You know I love you." "I know. But if I do it, then it will be nice again if I say things are like white elephants, and you 'll like it?" "I 'll love it. I love it now but I just can 't think about it. He used little words to discuss a huge topic and I enjoyed that a lot. He didn’t make me lose interest fast, he made me want to keep looking at analysis and understanding. Although, I wouldn’t want to read another story like this, I couldn’t agree with this text at all. The things that happened in this story made me understand, people still to this day will do anything in their power to end something that could possibly end up being good. Not because they wanted to, yet people like their partners tell them how things will be so much better. In the end, some people end up more hurt than before. Many people should read this to see just how some people in the world are. With that said, I would like to read another story from Hemingway, but maybe not one about
