On Tuesday November 8th 2016, millions of Americans will be casting their votes in order to elect the 45th president of the United States. The two main candidates who are expected to collect the largest amount of votes are Hillary Clinton representing the Democrats and Donald Trump representing the Republicans. Most Americans have pre determined which candidate will be receiving punchcard holes next to their names yet, quite a few citizens remain undecided. For those that are unsure, I urge you to vote for Mrs Clinton. If elected, she would be a substantially better president than her competitor Donald Trump. With that being said, the consequences of choosing the wrong candidate could be catastrophic for the United States. The president of …show more content…
He came from humble beginnings and through his hard work and determination became the 16th president of the United States. One of his greatest achievements included the initiation of the emancipation proclamation and is commonly referred to as “Honest Abe”. That is to say, Abraham Lincoln is an outstanding person for any individual to try and replicate. With that being said, certain benchmarks that Mr Lincoln excelled in can be applied to Mrs Clinton in order to evaluate her presidential qualities. The criteria being used to evaluate Hillary Clinton are honesty, charitability and being a great listener. Lincoln was often confronted by countless citizens in the White House reception room about situations such as families son’s being conscripted. Great listeners give their time and energy to individuals no matter their rank in society. Furthermore the act of listening allows people to understand issues with more clarity and make informed opinions and decisions. Therefore, Hillary Clinton should be giving her undivided attention to individuals who come to her with queries, just as Lincoln did. An example of Clinton demonstrating this is shown in her listening tour embarked on after announcing her presidential candidacy. During this tour she met with local citizens in the state of Iowa. Specifically, one individual saw the extent of her undivided attention when he was explaining how his huge college debt was limiting his access to credit, needed to start a business. Mrs Clinton replied “We all know about the student loan debt, but I’ve never heard anyone so persuasively link it to the slowdown in business start-ups”(Chozik). She followed this up with “You’ve given me an insight that nobody else has, and I’m grateful to you”(Chozik). She followed this act by instructing her campaign team leaders of college affordability and small business policies, to work together more closely due to the connection identified by the
