The first 2016 presidential debate happened on September 26, 2016. When going in to this first presidential debate, the polls between the two candidates are tight. The candidates were asked about specific issues and plans to deal with them like the economy, racism, taxes, security, and nuclear issues. Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton wants an economy that benefits everyone in the nation, not just the top wealthy people. Those benefits include helping small businesses, using renewable energy, allowing women equal pay as men for doing the same work, making child care affordable, creating new jobs to help raise the economy, and helping people go to college debt free. She wants to help build the middle class. She thinks that raising taxes
