Liberty, equality, and democracy are considered to be the core values of our American political culture and most Americans agree that they are fundamental ideals, which the government should respect as well as emphasize in their policies. However, our political parties often prioritize these core values differently through various interpretations depending on each of their political ideology. Throughout our American history, there has always been two major parties in our two-party system that competed for representation in the government and are constantly evolving. The two major political parties that has evolved into what we see today are the Democratic and Republican Party. The Democratic Party strongly stands for equality of opportunity, …show more content…
Loretta Sanchez’s stance on Gun Violence prevention is a vital issue to me for this election because there has been too much bloodshed over the past couple of years due to gun violence. Discrimination is one factor that has led to such tragic events. Even though guns are meant to be used in self defense under the 2nd Amendment, the use of violence and massacres have led me to believe that guns should be restricted. We need to keep each other safe as well as protecting the innocents from becoming victims of one of the biggest factors in the death of Americans (“Issues”). On the contrary, Kamala Harris’s standpoint on providing a greater access to higher education is one of the most important issue to me for this election because everyone deserves the right to the American Dream and be successful, regardless of where they came from and their backgrounds. By providing access to higher education, there would be a greater initiative to obtain the education that would greatly benefit society as a whole and make the majority of people more active in politics as well as informed citizens (“The …show more content…
After analyzing the voting behavior patterns in course readings and class, I predict that Hillary Clinton will win the presidential election. This predicted result will profoundly affect the issues I care about because Hillary Clinton’s proposal; her stance is a clear reflection of what I support. Hopefully, she can help propel progress to the issues if she wins the general election. In contrast, the reason why Donald Trump isn’t as popular among the public as Hillary Clinton is because he is only appealing to the white middle class working families who are more conservative than the rest of the population. In addition, his approach on immigration and commitment to building a wall at the border of Mexico, that forces them to pay for it, is a bit extreme (“Donald J. Trump Position”). The way he handles this issue isn’t going to maintain a stable and benevolent neighboring relationship with Mexico as well as other Islamic countries. This is why most Latinos support the Democratic Party over the Republican Party. Donald Trump’s mannerism and harsh sexist criticisms against women and minorities is only helping the Democratic Party and Hillary Clinton to strive. Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton and her proposed policies appeal to me, women, and other racial and minority groups because of her emphasis on issues concerning equality and welfare of the

Even though many may think building a wall is rude, I personally think it is just a clever way to prevent undocumented immigrants from entering; however, I do not agree with Trump’s plan to make Mexico pay for the wall. He believes that Mexico is taking advantage of us, but America has always been a country that is willing to help. Even though we are willing to help, we should be stricter about the immigrants that are in this country, and Donald Trump has good ideas to do that. To improve America, Trump’s scare tactics will bring people from different parties and areas of the country to vote for him in this upcoming election. He uses the fears of illegal immigration and terrorism as means of getting people to go vote for him.…

The United States often looked to as the paragon of excellence when it comes to democracy, and on the surface it would almost seems to be, having free elections and the ability for seemingly anyone to run for and win office. Americans need to address the problems of campaign finance, and put reforms in place to truly give everyone that wonderful opportunity to run for and win office. Not just someone who is backed by wealthy donors and wildly prosperous Super PACs. They need to recognize the power that political advertisements hold, especially the negative ones in order to remain or become more informed on the issues. Lastly, Americans need to work just as hard as they would at enacting proper campaign finance reform, at being able to discern and distinguish biased media outlets.…

Immigration has recently become the center of the presidential debates, and every candidate is trying to offer up the best position regarding this topic. For instance, the democrats maintain a low profile on their stance because many, such as Hillary Clinton, believe immigration is be something we should allow more of. While the republicans, excluding Jeb Bush, strongly support the strengthening of our immigration laws. That being said, Donald Trump’s stance on immigration is the most popular amongst Republican Americans. This is because he promises to build a wall large enough that there would be no chance of illegal immigration.…

Another fact that makes Hillary a best candidate than Trump is the tax statements, since Trump do not want to show his taxes which is very weird because this action demonstrate that he has something to hind behind his taxes. If someone who has a high income do not want to show his/her taxes, then he/she has been doing something wrong or has something in his/her taxes that do not seem right. If a candidate wants to be a president, I believe they should be honest and have no secrets according to government issues; they should be transparent. In conclusion, I think the Hillary Clinton would be a better President based on my critical thinking skills. She has better statistics than Trump, I assume she can do a better job being the next President of the United States based on my interpretations of how is each of the two…

In 2016, illegal immigration has been the root of certain presidential campaigns, but it is a weapon being used to attack immigrants making them seem subordinate to full U.S. citizens. Although illegal immigration immigration regulations is a huge controversy all over the world, the U.S. is being scrutinized for not being harsh to people who want to enter “The Land of the Free” The United States does have an overflow of immigrants but the actions taken to help regulate the flow of immigrants seem to be very ineffective. Immigrants have a PRIVILEGE to be in the United States. Immigrants do deserve to be here if they respect the immigration laws set in place. Respecting the natural born citizens rights as well.…

For starters, Trump states on his campaign website a “nation without borders is not a nation.” (Trump Make America Great Again, Immigration). Trump also includes ideas about building a wall on the US border, making Mexico pay for the wall, and the mandatory return of illegal aliens, 11 million illegal immigrants. Unlike Trump, Sanders has a different alternative on immigration. Although both candidates have plans on how to tackle immigration, Trump 's plans to deport 11 million aliens seems too unrealistic to accomplish. Not only would it take the US billions of dollars to make that happen but it would also be unfair to the children and families who came here for a better life.…

The approach that Trump is taking is harsh, but common. Building a wall to protect something that has been done since Hadrian’s Wall; consequently, placing a wall along a border to protect a nation is a medieval idea. However, it would have social and economic downfalls. Our relationship with the Mexican government would be strained by insisting that they pay the fee to resurrect a wall keeping their own citizens out of our country. This could be dangerous for United States citizens living along the border, because immigrants would be increasingly desperate.…
