Hillary Clinton, if elected as president, will replace Antonin Scalia and will possibly have to fill Anthony M. Kennedy, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Stephen Breyer’s seats. Although Clinton has not released a short-list of possible supreme court judges, Clinton has gone on record that she would not name anyone who doesn’t support abortion on demand and consider Roe V. Wade settled law. Clinton also has said that she would appoint a judge that would overturn the Citizens United decision which gave interest groups free speech campaign rights. A large part of Clinton’s platform is to create criminal justice reform. Clinton wants to strengthen relationships between the police and communities by creating stricter guidelines for police officers to follow. Clinton plans to donate 1 billion to finding police departments’ training programs and research. She will also provide matching funds to police departments to make body cameras possible. Clinton believes crime is at “historic lows”, but wants to create criminal justice reform that would decrease the incarceration rates of Black youth and end racial profiling. The eleven possible judges are: Steven Colloton of Iowa, Allison Eid of Colorado, Raymond Gruender of Missouri, Thomas Hardiman of Pennsylvania, Raymond Kethledge of Michigan, Joan Larsen of Michigan, Thomas Lee of Utah, William Pryor of Alabama, David Stras of Minnesota, Diane Sykes of Wisconsin and Don Willett of Texas.
