I want to be able to tell my kids that I did the right thing when it really mattered." The mother explains that although she is a republican, she wants to do what's right. Speaker: The narrative voice in the text is Sarah Vowell. Vowell provides the reader with hints that she possesses a liberal quality that is contrary to judgements of her father whom seems to align with a conservative way of thinking. An example of this would be when Vowell quotes, “I’m not saying who was the Democrat or who was the Republican – my father or I – but I will tell you that I have never subscribed to Guns & Ammo, that I did not plaster the family vehicle with National Rifle Association stickers, and that hunter’s orange was never my color.” Vowell introduces some of thoughts belonging to her father, in which the reader can evaluate those characteristics and align them with them to match the qualities of being a liberal or a conservative thinker. Indeed, it is…

This friendly diction is easily seen through the fact that the characters appearing in the video often use conjunctions and shortened forms of words that are frequently associated with the vernacular of the American middle class. The shortening of “lot of” to “lotta” in the opening segment, as well as the use of “I’m” in place of “I am” throughout the ad are just some example of the language used by the characters featured in her ad to better connect with viewers. By using common language, these characters are able to build rapport with those watching the ad, and that rapport is then transferred to Secretary Clinton when she appears towards the end of the video. It seems that Clinton chooses her words a bit more carefully, as she uses phrases such as “everyday Americans,” and “…when families are strong, American is strong” that are meant to appeal to a broad audience. Despite using a bit more of a calculated phraseology, Clinton still conveys the message that she is a relatable candidate, and is the one that is best suited to be the next President of the United States.…

He is demonstrating that Bush did not do right by the people and another four years would be detrimental to the nation. While the messages of some of the commercials are quite negative towards Bush there are others that work to promote Clinton and his work done as governor of Arkansas. This can be seen directly in “Rebuild America” in which Clinton clearly and distinctly lays out his plan to “bring this country back” and bring it to the 21st century. Clinton provides distinct facts and figures to persuade the viewers to move away from Bush, who he lays out as someone who shouldn’t run the nation for a second term (Rebuild America). These commercials work to push against the current administration while building up Clinton to the role of president.…

Personally, I think this campaign nailed it when it comes down to advertising the situation of drunk driving and was very successful. Mothers Against Drunk Driving used a different approach towards the topic than most other advertisements do which I believe is one of the reasons this ad is so effective. It not only tells about the harms of drunk driving, but it physically shows the situation that could change your life around if you are involved in it. The advertisements use of pathos makes it emotional for not only those who actually partake in drunk driving, but even the people who are just using the road. It uses a very logical fact to engage the audience of the time frame it takes to be struck by a drunk driver.…

In reality it’s based toward the middle class and the lower class. It’s all about hope for these people. If the people aimed towards pick the wrong choice (candidate) they could be in for a long hopeless next couple of years.…

Negative Advertising has been one of the main techniques that candidates use to encourage voters to elect them into office. Over the years negative advertising has started to be used more often through every election. The question is whether Negative Advertising works or not. Do some people support negative advertising and believe it helps candidates get elected? The truth is that even though it may work and get candidates’ votes, it does not mean that it could not turn into a candidate’s enemy and cost them voters that they already had.…

When used, “America beyond current limitations” he also said,” Bernie see’s an America where there is hope, and things you thought could never be done can be done”. In the Ad there is a picture of Bernie Sanders getting arrested in the 1960s at a civil rights protest. I think they put the picture in to show that Sander has always been consistent with the things he believes are right through out his entire political career. It also shows that he has always fought for whats right no matter the ethnicity, gender or anything as long as he though it was the right…

Now on television, especially this year with the presidential election, all I see are commercials that show negative point about candidates. Often, candidates will make these commercials to make their opponents look bad, and make them seem like the better vote. Often though, the facts in these ads are very untrue and vulgar. Candidates will often comment on opponent’s personal life, family, and past mistakes, which I think is out of bounds. I also feel like these ads, show a negative side of the United States.…

Do you agree with the assessment that Clinton’s ads were mostly devoid of policy? I was for Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election, I a bit sadden to say this, but I agree with the assessment that Clinton's ads were devoid of the Policy. Maybe it's because I live in California or being bias I didn't really pay much attention to the ads running during the election, but after having watched a few of commercial being advertised Living Room Candidate web-site, https://livingroomcandidate2016.tumblr.com/archive, during this election, I can say it honestly had little or nothing to do with policies that she was for or against she mostly bad talked Donald Trump or made herself look like the better choice (pumped herself up). I understand that it is a presidential election, a lot at stake, bashing the other candidate is what they do, but to have abandoned all your morals, is concerning, I just hoped because she was the first women ever to be elected by any political…

This presidential election has surprised millions of people. Despite the constant criticism of Trump, specifically his beliefs and his actions, he was able to win the presidential election in a landslide. For months we have heard that there is no way he will win, that his campaign is just a joke and that Hillary will sweep him in the final election. We, however, underestimated the power of his marketing strategy. It has even been stated by John Barker, the president and chief idea officer at independent advertising shop Barker, that “whether by instinct or design, Donald Trump is without a doubt the most modern and sophisticated marketer of the Republican candidates” (Stein 2016).…
