Hilary Stout Social Media Essay

Decent Essays
We read several articles about social media. According to Hilary stout, she believes social media is harming kids today. I disagree with stout's claim because social media today has helped us so much and she obviously does not see that. Social media helps people to find, research, learn and many other things. The way people use social media today it the way we will use it for the rest of our lives. What Hilary stout does not understand is she uses social media to and what i want to know is how does it harm her?

Another way that Social Media has a negative impact on kids is that it lowers their self esteem. In the article, Being 13: Perils of Lurking on Social Media, CNN Wire states: “On all social media feeds, young people are highly likely to see pictures of friends gathering without them, or large groups having a great time at parties to which they were not invited.” Students could feel left out if they see a picture, say, of their friends without them, which could make them highly question if they are as cool as someone else or as popular as someone else. This could cause fights and generally create unwanted attention to a person. Often, students spend way too much time “lurking,” or in other words, constantly scrolling through their Social Media…
