Hilary Film Review

Hilary: The Movie was a documentary that was released in 2008 before the 2008 Primaries. This was a movie about Senator Hillary Clinton and it talked about and went over all the scandal’s that Hilary Clinton was involved in. It talked about White House FBI files, Whitewater and White House travel office. This movie was produces by a non-profit organization, Citizens United. The film was sold on their website and they had planned to play if over the air for cable subscribers. This video’s main agenda was to influence the voters and steer them away from voting for Hilary Clinton. But there were many things that held that back and didn’t allow them to run the film on cable. One of the main things that held it back was an Act that was passed back in 2008. This prevented the Organization, Citizens United to post it for cable viewers. The Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act basically banned the video. The Video violated one of the guidelines which stated that if the was a form of “electioneering communications” because it went after a candidate within a time frame of them running for presidency. The funding for the video was also helped by corporate contribution. The producers tried to set the film as a documentary and were very angered that the film could not be played on on cable. Like I stated earlier, I believe corporations having such power is a recipe for disaster and it is corruption waiting to happen. If we look at our current state that we are in, we are letting a business man run our country and that’s a business man that in influenced by other businessmen. We cannot think it is okay to let more business people influence our society because as evident by more recent events, a lot of successful business have some corruption or some very unethical things
