Fear, to a great extent, is born of a story we tell ourselves, and so i chose to tell myself a different story from the ones women are told I decided I was safe. I was strong. I was brave. Nothing could vanquish me”(P.51). After reading “Wild From Lost to Found on the Pacific Trail” the book offered many useful lessons but there is one in particular that stands out to me it is overcoming fear. Cheryl was scared to go to hiking she wasn’t fully prepared for the challenge that was ahead of her but she did it anyway. Cheryl quotes after beginning her trail “What have I gotten myself into”? If she allowed fear to grow she would have ended her trail early on and we wouldn’t be able to see the development of her character. She would have been stuck to her old habits and depressive state. The fear she had was a challenge but she was able to challenge herself she asked herself if she could do it. When a person challenges themselves they see who they really are as a person. Challenge is a way for growth to happen in a person. Overcoming her fear allowed her to complete the trail and one could see all her past struggles were nothing compared to the greater glory of completing the trail. Being loyal was a lesson picked up infidelity is a horrible decision to make. It affects the spouses involved and can lead to depression & destructive behavior. Paul was the right person for Cheryl but she messed up big time. He

‘Into The Wild’ - “How to Live Life To The Fullest” The quote “the core of a mans’ spirit comes from new experiences”, by Jon Krakauer, really says a lot about life and its’ possible adventures. The journeys you take in your lifetime is what builds you as a person, I believe. You can’t lay in bed and sleep twenty-four hours and seven days a week, and expect to have a fun loving spirit who craves adventure. Craving popcorn, cake, and potato chips is a different kind of desire. Feel alive and do something you wouldn’t dare do before you are dead.…

Into the Wild examines the fatal expedition of Chris McCandless as he breaks all ties from society and challenges his ability to survive in the wilderness. For Christopher McCandless and Jon Krakauer, this was their reality for some time. Through the use of flowing description, well-held ethos, and simple sentence structure, Krakauer unravels the complexity of Christopher McCandless. Only by the use of attentive description could Krakauer illustrate the formational…

The only way to find one’s identity is through losing oneself in isolation. Jon Krakauer, author of Into the Wild, utilizes many rhetorical strategies to convey his central argument to adolescence in understanding that to find one’s identity, they must step out of society’s machinery in order to formulate personal morals, opinions, and beliefs. Furthermore, Krakauer felt compelled to write about the life and death of Christopher McCandless to justify the actions, reasonings, and beliefs of McCandless due to the critics of his Alaskan Odyssey, who thought him as selfish and unprepared when Krakauer published his first article about McCandless, and therefore, wrote this novel. Krakauer uses syntactic permutation to symbolize the unknowing thoughts of McCandless, regionalism of Alaska to symbolize the isolation necessary, and an aphorism all…
