What is highschool? As a High School student I can tell you a thing or two about High School. I think definition of Highschool changes with each Generation. Each Generation of people has a unique experience that reflects the four years they spend there.I hear people say all the time that social media is making young folks antisocial and the like, but I’d say that social media has given us a way to connect with each other that has never existed in the past. High School is an adventure. High School is both rewarding and harrowing. High School is a place where memories are made.I’ve made some friendships here that I think may last a lifetime, and I’ve made some memories I will certainly never forget.

You join clubs, make friends, and stand with them. High School is learning that all the cliquey garbage on TV is mostly myth. Unlike all the sitcoms may have lead you to believe, nobody’s out to get you, and there’s no nuanced social hierarchy, like I was expecting to see, when I was younger. Instead I made some friends, sat down at whichever table during lunch, and played cards. I’ve made some friends that I can rely on, and they can rely on me. All the tropes, with the Jocks vs Nerds, popularity, and what have you, are simply not real. I think you’ll find that in what I would consider to be a High School environment, you’ll find …show more content…
You’ll have a lot to worry about during your four years. High School is having teachers that don’t know or don’t care how busy you already are. Some nights sophomore year, every class would give homework on the same night. High School is worrying about that project that’s due. Whether it’s a month or a day, that lingering feeling never leaves you. Sometimes even after you’ve finished it still hangs around. High School is worrying about the “what ifs” When was this due, or will I have time to get all this done. I’ve spent many a tired night working at the eleventh hour, admittedly often due to my own poor planning skills, but never without there already being a heavy workload. It’s not all bad though. You can get done either by careful planning, efficient use of time, clever improvisation, sheer force of determination, or some

When someone blurts out the word “high school”, what’s your first initial thought? I don’t know about you, but “cliques” are the first thought to my mind. The media is drowning in films that portray the idea of “cliques”, but personally, I believe the film Mean Girls is the best representation of the world of cliques. Means Girls is a teen classic, and I can almost bet the majority of my generation has seen or at least heard of it. It is American teen comedy film that manifests the harsh conditions teens undergo when it comes to high school cliques.…

After watching the film “Mean Girls”, there are some realistic aspects which can be applied to an actual high-school scenario. Though, most of the social context is purely based off of Hollywood creation, which allows for larger drama within and between cliques. Furthermore, there are many aspects which must be considered in comparing this fictional society to an actual high school scenario. This would include agents of socialization, social institutions, primary and secondary groups, and many other factors.…

High school changes people. They express themselves, become opinionated, and they start to look at the world differently as they experience things they have never encountered before. A wise Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.” This quote is an excellent way to describe my experience in high school.…

After reviewing my persuasive speech over why the University of Oklahoma is the best university in the nation, I would sum up my speech as a little bit of train wreck. Although I made good claims with factual evidence, the amount of stuttering I did, and all the times I was choked up throughout the speech drew my audience’s attention away. From this, I lost my audience’s belief that I was competent of the information I was reiterating to them. At the introduction of my speech I believe I started out fairly strong and gave a good run down of the coming speech.…

I was around 7 years old, when I first peregrinate to Virginia, which didn’t last as long as my mother wanted. When we moved here my father provided a nice townhouse for us. Imagine eight children endeavoring to get yare for their first day of school in Virginia, on a Sunday. It was one of the most frustrating days in my life, we aren’t that family that has the whole getting to the bus stop on time, and being used to peregrinating with the “yellow school bus” to school. So the night afore we had to pack our book bags and pick out habiliments, get yare with lunch and breakfast all that jazz.…

Focusing on the cracks of the sidewalks, while listening to De talk about the description of his week. Wearing washed out jeans and button up, wondering where the distant crying was coming from, waking and taking buses for miles finally arrived to this washed down building they call school. Always have your fist ready because this place isn't something you would call safe. This place is nonexistence in the reality of this world, the things we go over in this place has nothing to do with the survival of my life. Staring at the dirty washed out walls I thought to myself, “I need to get out of this place.”…

Before heading down, a large group of us met together in front of the daily pick up and drop off of students, around 11:15 AM. This is where we talked and lowered our pins and needles relating to the big performance for Sunset’s choir program. We loaded the buses and headed away from Sunset’s campus; the trip down to Eugene was exciting, yet nerve-wracking all at the same time. To help take down stress levels: some of us talked with friends, sang along to music, slept, or did our homework to pass the time. “The bus trip down there we didn’t really do much,” Natasha Anderson told me, “an hour until we got there, we played Cards Against Humanity with the entirety of the back of the bus.”…

High school speech Today, after around 4 months of anticipation and anxiety, the veil hiding the high school results will finally be uncovered. For some, the result hiding behind the veil for 4 months will be satisfying, and will cool the anxiety down and reaffirm their self esteem. For other unlucky souls, however, the truth hidden behind that placid veil may be upsetting, and a huge blow to their self esteem. This high school admissions system works in this cruel but robotic way, sadly, and many 8th graders, as a result feel rejected and hopeless when they receive their results.…

Last Monday, 4th of September at 9 am, in the school’s theater, the three ninth grade candidates held their speeches in hope to become this year's grade level representative. Three persuasive speeches were held from each representative; Noa, Ashim and Misha, trying to gain as many votes as possible by their peers. Each grade has to elect one or two grade level representative to advocate for that specific grades voice, desires and opinions. This helps the school understand the students concerns and suggestions for improvements around the school. Ashim Mitra: one of the candidates, descriptively said “it’s a chance for the grade nine to have a voice in the student council that would also argue for what we want.”…

302,400 minutes. That is the estimate of how many minutes we have spent in Anderson High School preparing for our future. Now, This number doesn’t count the afternoons sacrificed by our Redskin athletes. It does not count the late nights spent by our performing arts students nor does it include the amount of time we have spent dedicating our lives to our studies and various extracurriculars. The amount of papers recycled, tears shed and life-long friendships created are all numbers I wish I could calculate but I cannot.…

Looking back on my high school years, I would advise someone who is beginning high school to make sure that they get good grades. This is because it will affect their grades the rest of their high school career. Some freshmen, feel that graduation is a very long time away. They feel that what they do as freshmen won't affect them later. In reality, time goes by fast when you're in high school.…
