Would life be easier if we lived more simple? Without a doubt, life would be a breeze without so many things trying to grab your attention. In today's time humans beings are so distracted by social media, technology, and the hunger for the latest trends via clothes, cars, houses, etc I think without those distractions life would be so easy.

“Misguided from youth, heart divided from truth”, Lauryn Hill uses this statement in her poem “Motives and Thoughts” to bring light to the bigger issues faced in the modern world. People today have forgot how to behave like a proper, educated, humble human being. The morals of today’s society have taken a seat; greed and self-motivation have taken their place. Media outlets, television, social media, these are all things that have led to the “push everyone down so I can make it to the top” mentality we see today. Hill illustrates this beautifully with her use of consonance which resonates throughout the poem.…
