Thinking about my educational quest, I realize IUSB made it possible for me to accomplish many of my goals. I must acknowledge that several of the instructors helped me stay focused on reaching my goals. Through learning higher order thinking, knowledge and skills to appreciate the Liberal Arts program and academic values, gives me the knowledge for encouraging others in their life determination of success.
In my pursuit of developing higher order thinking skills I acquired tools of applying principles and generalizations of psychology in new problematic situations I faced. Randy Isaacson and Educational Psychology P250 taught me how to problem solve and gave me a brief overview of all the different psychology classes offered. For example, one important principle I ascertained was using flash cards and concept maps while studying. Using these flashcards allowed me capability of recalling the general terms in his psychology class gaining the understanding and practicing relating these principles in the real world. General Psychology Introduction with Carolyn Schult provided a broad overview of the different psychology courses offered at IUSB. It covered learning, sensory psychology, psychophysiology, individual differences, personality, development, abnormal, and social psychology. Some professors in psychology were always clarifying terminology-enabling comprehension by the class. Some psychology professors just did strict lectures except for this semester Professor Dandotkar gives a discussion with in class activities, which I really like. By leading with group discussions, it benefits the class in understanding the information taught. Providing me information on how others absorb information will give me the aptitude for assist others in their life
