Within the CDC lies many sub-organizations/programs: Cafe Sonshine, Higher Ground, the CDC Farm and Fishery, Restoration Warehouse, Detroit Remade, Peaches & Greens, Faith, Hope and Love Productions, Solid Rock Property Management, Shadow of the Almighty Security, and the Fit & Fold Laundromat (Benedetti par.10). Clearly, the organization has quickly established many terrific enterprises since its establishment in 1998 (Central Detroit Christian, “Meet the Founder”). From the wide range of business created, they all seem to cover the needs of the people around them. More specifically, the Peaches and Greens grocery store has flourished in central Detroit. Peaches and Greens’ goal is “to provide access to low-cost fruits and vegetables through a produce truck and store which are clean and safe” (Central Detroit Christian, “Peaches and Greens”). The groups under CDC prove the success of this organization in its many goals, including the improvement of education. Central Detroit Christian has put a lot of time and effort into bettering the education of the people of the Detroit community. For example, of the many programs they have, the Children’s Ministry focuses on helping out young kids in the area. Inside the ministry are many different helpful programs, such as the Breakthrough Enrichment Tutoring Program. As stated on the website, “Each week, nearly 125 students attend the Breakthrough Enrichment Program hosted by CDC and an incredible team of nearly 25 volunteers!” (Central Detroit Christian, Children’s Ministry). Besides specific academic tutoring, the CDC also helps with agricultural education. While being interviewed about the new education programs of CDC, “"We're teaching ag-tech skills, market skills, sales skills and weaving a tapestry to attack food access issues on a variety of levels,"[Hatinger] says.” (Samantha Ward College of Arts and Letters Intern, par.6). In addition to education on agriculture and academics, the CDC also focuses on education that betters the lives of families inside of the house. Parenting with a Purpose creates a safe environment that helps out parents all around the community. The goal is to “reach out to parents, engage parents in positive parenting, promote early learning experiences, support parents in doing developmental-centered parenting, [and] prepare children five years old and under for kindergarten” (Central Detroit Christian, “Parenting with a Purpose”).
