Does going to college make you an intelligent person? If you were to look up the definition of intelligence it states; that you have a good understanding of things, quick witted, sound thought and good judgement. When students experience secondary education, they have the opportunity to read books and listen to the lectures of top experts in their fields. This encourages students to think, ask questions, and explore new ideas, which allows for additional growth and development. By attending college, you will have an intellectual gain and a better understanding of yourself and the world around you. Therefore, college is the best way for students to develop attitudes, skills, and gain the confidence needed to reach your individual goals.

Every college student feels at one time or another they are inadequate and doubts their ability to do the work. Louis Menand, author of “Live and Learn” expresses, “Education is about personal and intellectual growth, not about winning some race to the top” (Menand 7). As a student, it is necessary to grow and expand your knowledge by attending a secondary school. The demands of college are supposed to give you a push to excel and retain information. College is not just about the social needs. Menand states, “College is supposed to be hard” (Menand 18). In others words, Menand is saying, anything worthwhile is going to be hard, push your limits to excel and maximize your talents, so you can retain the information required for your desired career
