High-Tech La Education Advantages

The single greatest advantage I have had in an education sense is going to High Tech LA, my high school. My high school is a college prep school with an emphasis on technology. Being able to use state of the art technology with teachers that have come from all over the country and have gotten educated at the highest level is something that is unparalleled at any other school. Not only is there an emphasis on achieving at the highest level, but there is also a diversity that brings students and teachers from all walks of life together. There is a common bond of acceptance and understanding through education at my school and this has allowed for me to become the person I am today. Thriving at a school that is a class above others is no easy task,

It takes a moment in your life to have a self realization that will impact you for the rest of your life. There are various reasons as to why I’m deserving of the Etna-Dixmont School Scholarship. The most prevalent reason is my family history and connection with the town of Dixmont. My father and my grandparents moved to from Massachusetts to Dixmont, Maine when he was in second grade. My grandfather bought a house on Route 9 in Dixmont, and some other land in addition to that. The Dixmont Corner Church was built in 1835, and had an active one room school house next to it that was built in 1808.…

St. John’s Military School vs St. Edward’s School Although St. John’s Military School and St. Edward’s Catholic School are both private schools and have sports, at St. John’s we wore ACUs and were split up into companies. While St. Edward’s (St. Ed’s) we wore a nice polo with a nice pair of dress pants and every grade was split in half, and then separated. At St. John’s they have a very weird “welcoming” program, but St. Ed’s you just follow the person that is in your class.…

My community is small and we all grow up together, all the children went to the same school and everyone had a great connection. I learn to have a connection with the people in my school like no other, we all more up together. The average high school student drives a mile or so to an institution they dread going to each day. I, on the other hand, wake up over 2 hours early to drive 15 miles to Loyola High School so that I can pursue my academic interests. On top of that my family struggles to pay tuition and the students who go there are some of the brightest individuals in California so why would I go to this place? I think that my school has prepared me with the resources to confront any situation that I am put in and the skills I have acquired have been enhanced by the competitive environment I am surrounded by each day.…

In our educational experience, there are going to be pros and cons. We also have similarities and differences with others, but that doesn’t make our education any better than theirs. All year schooling is a very good idea because there would get more frequent breaks, more information can be learned, more time can be spent on topics, students could take more classes, and faculty meetings would be less frequent. One reason that schools should switch to all year schooling is because the students and faculty would get more frequent breaks. Having breaks more frequently could make it so students would actually like going to school. Students families could take trips in other season so students would be less likely to miss school to go on vacation with their families.…

The most significant educational opportunity that I’ve obtained has been President Barack Obama’s approval of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) established in 2012. I come from a town in Mexico that has a population of fewer than 600 inhabitants and growth opportunities are really limited. Continuing my education at the university would mean that I’ll be the first member of my family to receive a college degree. First, as soon as DACA became available, I immediately began taking advantage of the program’s opportunities.…

Over the past four years, I have been going to a STEM+M school, whose goals are to make the world rethink education and diversify learning. Instead of focusing on books, memorization, and testing, the school focused on preparing kids for college, real-world application, and cultural education. I think this gave me a unique way of looking at things, especially with all of the different styles of learning I took part in. This type of educational and intellectual diversity allows me to offer a different perspective to groups and problems that others do not have.…

I really wanted to go to public school, but a small part of me wanted to stay home schooled because I thought I wasn't ready to bring on that big of a challenge. Big school with lots of kids, teachers, rooms, and lockers are all different and new for me. Lockers is the biggest one for me because I have never ever in my life had a locker before.
