High Stakes Testing Is Bringing the Schools Down Every parent wants to see their child succeed in school, and to create a life of their own; which is less likely when students spend more time testing, than learning. The students are taught to memorize the presented material, and respond to a specific question on a test to pass; although most do not understand the material and does not provide proper education to benefit them in the future.^1 Some students struggle with test taking, possibly due to anxiety and cannot properly show their learning in this form. The students that have difficulties they cannot control get held back because they failed their grade promotion test, regardless of how they did that past year. Getting a failing grade doesn’t mean you will fail in life.
High stakes testing is not a proper indication of a student’s success in life. Success is something that is acquired, or earned by an individual, not by memorizing information that predicts their future. To be successful, many short and long term goals are required. Planning goals that motivate thyself is a key to success; being unable to graduate high school and start life’s journey, is the complete opposite of success and is very damaging to the mind. ^2Tests are not going to prepare you for life, but stress you out and waste

If a student’s parents do not push their child to be the best that they can be, there is not much for them to push off of to be successful and have to proceed on their own. Many parents are interested in seeing their child do well on tests, but the High Stakes Standardized Testing is not an accurate way to measure learning, and students that have difficulty testing, stress and struggle with these tests. A much more beneficial and more productive way to test an individual in school is “Sampling”. Basically, similar like tests, but fewer of them and less harsh consequences.
