Growing up in a small town, I was always looking for different activities and adventure to push myself further as a person. I have always had a fascination with differing cultures and experiences, unlike the limited amount I could find in my hometown. However, I have not had many opportunities to venture out into the world. I instead developed my traits and interests through my school. I joined various clubs, sports, and commitments throughout my high school career. These things have helped me gain insight about who I really am and what I have to offer. Beginning freshman year, I decided to take a French class to learn a new language. While I knew it might be difficult, I also knew it was worth it. I quickly fell in love with the language …show more content…
During the school day, I strived to maintain my GPA and juggled my extracurricular activities. Academics that I have taken throughout my high school career have all been geared towards college readiness. I have taken several advanced classes and college courses including; psychology, United States history, and environmental geology. After school, I worked hard in becoming the best I could be on my soccer team. Since freshman year, I have been trying to better my performance and work on becoming a role model for freshmen. During my sophomore year, I received the “Most Improved” award. This motivated me to try to excel and become even better than previous years. Through the summer, I joined my local recreation league and continued to practice soccer until my swimming season came about. During the season, I set goals for myself as well as others and pushed us all to work our hardest. By being a leader, I was given the title of team captain. These sports helped me showcase my leadership skills gained through my student government …show more content…
Thanks to all of the committees I served on, I have been able to reach out into my community. My favorite committee, Angel Tree Shopping, is just one of the times I am able to give a hand to my community. In this organization, we are able to raise money and purchase gifts for underprivileged children in our area during the holidays. Not only do we buy common presents like toys and clothes, but we also give toiletries, snow gear, school supplies, etc. Once the holidays come around, the gifts are given to the children and their days are brightened. It is a great opportunity to give back to the community and it informs us on struggles occurring everyday. Whether I am helping with triathlons, elementary school fun nights, or Red Cross blood drives, each committee reflects back to our community and serves as a reminder as to why I participate. Living in a small town has influenced my decision to want to go to a larger college town. Like my experience in France, I believe enveloping myself in a new surrounding will provide me with more opportunities and help me grow. By becoming a Whitewater Warhawk, I hope to expand my experience and participate in many different activities. If given the chance, I am excited to explore the campus, see exactly what Whitewater has to offer, and also contribute my personality and skills to the

I was able to volunteer at a local bank that was sponsoring the Lake Park Elementary School for the holiday season. The school has over 300 underprivileged students between the ages of kindergarten and fifth grade. Most of the students at that school only have one meal per day. Along with other volunteers, I packaged bags that contained candy, toys, toiletries, a blanket, and a pair of athletic shoes. The bags were able to provide the children with goods that we often take for granted.…

Senior Year My greatest memory so far in my eighteen years of being on this earth is without a doubt my senior year of high school. It was absolutely unforgettable. My senior year as a whole (which was just last year) was the most fun I’ve ever had in my life and the happiest I have ever been. When I was a chubby little freshman with glasses I thought to myself that high school would be one of the longest time periods of my life and that four years would feel like forty years. But man was I wrong, high school went by in the blink of an eye.…
