Knowing this was the best chance I had to place highly in the state tournament, I gave him all I had, and came out with a big win. I pinned the next kid in the semi-finals which would advance me to the state finals. Just two weeks ago I was planning to through an easy district match so that I could be done with the long days, stress and pain that I had become accustomed to throughout the grueling season. Now I am standing in front of thousands of people during the finals ceremonies. I wrestled Chase McDaniel again in the finals where I lost and became the 152 pound state runner

For my senior culminating project I helped coach the Junior High School wrestling team. I chose this project because I believed as a senior and with five years of experience why not benefit the younger generation of forks wrestlers. I believe wrestling can help people in all aspects of life like my coach wheeler always says " once you've wrestled, everything else is easy". I would have to agree with this quote with my experience before and after I wrestled. I started this project February 22, 2016 and ended on March, 16th 2016.…

“If you trip on the mat, you won’t get the forfeit” was what I was told before my very first meet, and before I was introduced to everyone as a wrestler. The wrestling world is usually dominated by men, but every once in awhile a girl comes into it and takes control. As I stepped onto the mat, I saw my parents with a huge smile, and my coach and team were clapping and proud that I was out there, at least I hope, it was more of a blur to me. Even when I lost a match, which was just about all of them, everyone encouraged me to continue on and I did and it made me a different and better person. Coming into freshmen year, I was the quiet unnoticed one.…

I think it made it especially hard that I hadn’t been that into the sport from the start, but on top of that there was also the factor that I didn’t really have anyone to disappoint if I wasn’t performing my best. Looking back at it now, I know that I underperformed a lot, and didn’t try as hard as I probably could have. Taking into consideration that this had also been a very busy time in my life, I had looked at it as though, if the I was the only person who would lose if I didn’t do well, then it was a small…

Our varsity wrestler for the weight class I was in was injured so I had to wrestle in the varsity match. The discourse community for wrestling is different from most that I have heard. It could be similar to most high school sports because every high school has their own way of saying things. This Community differs from other communities because if you have never heard a person who wrestles talk about it or have never wrestled yourself, it can get very confusing. Wrestling is different because most terms are not heard in every day language. The moves are different for every team, although every move has a universal name that everyone knows it by.…
