Even with all the good in the world, there is the same amount of bad. With the help of others, with the help of volunteers, the bad will not outweigh the good. Each year, I have given my service to events like Super Saturday (a church-led day of yard service to those who can’t do the labor themselves), the Turkey Trot (a 5k run held each year on Thanksgiving), the Blood Drives held multiple times each …show more content…
I have experienced the positive benefits of volunteering in myself and in my community. Being involved is something that I believe every student and sometimes even every working adult needs to strive towards to better themselves. Although it is not always the most well off financially who are always giving the full extent of themselves to their community, it is usually the most content with their lives and the ones who always keep positivity in all that they do. I wish to have this same outlook on my life and the same contentedness towards my life involvements. Volunteering will remain important to me, especially after seeing all the benefits it has wrought in the small community I grew up in. I will remain a steady blood donor and community worker for my future community and especially for my future school. For many years, I have been wanting to serve other communities through a mission trip, and I hope that IUPUI will give me the resources to be able to accomplish

As a current eleventh grade student, I believe that I have exceeded in demonstrating all four qualities of the National Honor Society. The fact that Xaverian gives students the opportunity to give back to their community last quarter of their Senior year (and high school career) is extremely invaluable. I have always enjoyed doing service. It is something that I know helps the people I am serving, but also makes me feel good inside. Helping those around me is a desire that comes natural to me.…

Just a few years ago, my dad would always tell me stories about when he turned 18 years old. I volunteered for a non-profit organization called Watoto which raises orphaned children from the ages of birth to 18 years old. I worked primarily with the preschoolers and infants. Since I volunteered every day for the next month, I was able to connect with some of the children and get to hear their backstories.…

Billy is a kid who always goes above and beyond. He is a “Straight A” student in school and is always spending ample amounts of time volunteering at the local homeless shelter. His hundreds of hours of community service he racked up in high school however are insignificant when applying to colleges, as every other teenager in the country applying to has the same amount of time volunteered. The vast majority of students in high school already do something outside of school whether it is playing sports, taking part in a club such as FFA or FCCLA, having a job, or volunteering. While I believe volunteering is a great thing to, the fact of the matter is that mandating it would be a disservice to every student in the nation.…

Volunteerism is required in many high schools around the United States, but not all of them. This issue is incredibly controversial because the debate is whether community service actually helps students in the long run.…

Community service is an activity carried out by a person or group of people that addresses human and community needs. Although some people make think it’s just another chore to do, it helps bring out the best in people by forcing them to take a role of responsibility and leadership while helping others at the same time. It also teaches good morals and values such as honesty, gratefulness, and respect; values that will help guide me throughout the rest of my life.
