It was finally over, after 8 long years of public school it was finally over. I

graduated! Next challenge now is high school. After a long summer the

time was near as I would attend my high school orientation at the High

School for Enterprise, Business and Technology. I was so excited to be

attending the school up until I realized that it was a uniform school. The

uniform was burgundy polo shirts and with grey pants and they were very

strict about it. When it came time to get the uniforms they looked so ugly

get around wearing the uniform I decided to deal with and just move on.

typical jamaican words any child would hear before they start school again

“Yuh free papa bun!!!”. Upon my arrival there were crowds of students

waiting to get inside the campus. Once inside everyone was directed into

the lunch rooms waiting to get their schedules. No time after I made some

new friends talked a little, then everyone got their schedules and headed

off to their classes. I could remember knowing I had no clue where any of

my classes were or even know how to read it.

Finally after about 10 mins with the help of a teacher I found my first

class which turned out to be science lab living environment. The teacher

spent the whole two hours going over the rules of the lab. After that I

headed out to my second class which was cisco which happened to be my

major. After that class now I had lunch but i turned out to be a major

disappointment seeing it as how I had to pay for it now as its not free

anymore.

After all of this the fact of no lunch didn't bother me as my next two

classes were both math.(at the time my favorite subject) The class was

divided into two a lecture and problem solving. Both the teachers were

I found the nearest parking spot, ran into the building, managing to pull out my books for chemistry, and ran up to the 5th floor all before the instructor, Professor Jason, started his next lesson on the structure of proteins-- oh great, something that was sure to put me back to sleep. Instead of falling asleep I started to daydream about what I was going to do when I go back to Maine to see my family and friends. It was very early in the morning when I start hearing yelling almost screeching words that came from just outside the front door. My father rushed to the door knowing the if he was not there soon whoever was not outside would not hesitate to break down the door. He only gave us half an hour to get ready to leave and told us we were not aloud to bring jewelry or any personal items.…

It was like any other school day, coming back from lunch, sitting in class, and talking to friends; however, it all changed once I arrived in my American Studies class. Mrs. Forbs was standing in front of the class waiting for everyone to quiet down. The class was a bunch of sixth graders, so it took a while to make us be silent. The day felt weird for me, I had my same robotic schedule but for some reason something didn’t feel right. I thought it had something to do with the food I ate for lunch, I would be prepared to head down to the bathroom or even nurse if that was the case; however, what happened that day no sixth grader would be able to prepare for.…

Throughout my educational career I have been to three high schools including this one. Two out of the three were in New York, one was a fashion high school in Manhattan and the other was my zoned school in Queens. Senior Year My greatest memory so far in my eighteen years of being on this earth is without a doubt my senior year of high school. It was absolutely unforgettable. My senior year as a whole (which was just last year) was the most fun I’ve ever had in my life and the happiest I have ever been. When I was a chubby little freshman with glasses I thought to myself that high school would be one of the longest time periods of my life and that four years would feel like forty years. But man was I wrong, high school went by in the blink of an eye.…
