High School Trash

Many schools encourage students to become involved in service-learning projects. These are projects designed to help the community while students gain experience solving real-world problems. Projects may involve activities such as organizing litter pick-up, tutoring younger children, or conducting a health fair. Students at Crawford County high school could help their community by picking up trash. Litter is a major problem in Crawford, and everywhere else in the world. People litter every day, because they are too lazy to go to the trash can. If the students at Crawford pick up the trash on the roadsides and anywhere else there is trash, it will help keep the county looking good. Even if each student only picked up one piece of trash, at the …show more content…
At the end of week 1 the students would have picked up 2,500 pieces of trash. Those 2,500 pieces of trash would make a huge difference in the community and the environment around us. Picking up trash would also teach the students that littering is a very bad thing. Some of the students may learn and not litter again, and they may want to do it more than once a day. Picking up the litter would benefit everyone. The trash would be gone, which would make for safer environment, it would make the county look better, wildlife wouldn’t be affected as bad, and it would make the students and parents learn that littering is a bad thing. There is tons of trash everywhere around us, if the students clean that, it teaches them valuable life lessons. School should be more about helping students learn in the real-world, and not be so focused on testing. School is based on tests now, when it should be based on teaching the future of the country to do well in life and want to help out as much as they can. School is mostly based on testing, that needs to change. Make the students help their

The majority of trash we removed accumulated from people throwing it in the creek and by water washing trash into the creek. To prevent this I am recommending spending $60,000 to employ a French Creek Environmental Educator to travel the watershed, especially near French Creek, to educate individuals about the economic and environmental effects of polluting the French Creek Watershed. It is cheaper and more cost effective to prevent than clean up of pollutants as clean up costs include disposal, risk, and the environmental damage that could not be prevented (Garbisu & Itziar Alkorta, 2001). This concept makes it more effective to look so spend the money coming in from sponsors on prevention rather than…

“Recycling all of your home’s waste newsprint, cardboard, glass, and metal can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 850 pounds a year” (CU Facts). letting these materials become recycled instead of being thrown in landfills let the rest of the trash decay at the very slow rate it already goes without having to go around the not needed materials. Having these bins could help the already sorta polluted is being clouded by the sand processing machines across the river from pecan plantation. Eliminating as much environmental impact as possible needs to become Pecan and Granburys worry since we 've already put in multiple mining plants, a dam, and even a nuclear power plant. although it may be a little expensive to buy more recycling bins but in the long run the community would save money and the environment keeping less trash out for the garbage man to pick up and more plastics, bottles, and cans filling the bins can help save cost on how many garbage trucks need to come through and the air would become a little more pure.…

During my two volunteer experiences I participated in for the service learning portion of this class, I had the opportunity to witness many different walks of life. I was taken in on a side of poverty I’ve never before seen, and on a very intimate level. My first volunteer experience this semester was at a local food pantry, the Pratt-Quigley center. The neighborhood around the food pantry seemed very run down and poor. Shortly after arriving there, we were directed to the room where all the food was stored after it had been donated, waiting to be sorted.…

“The role of schooling was to equip individuals with the skills necessary to participate in the social life of their community and to change the nature of the social order as needed or desired.” - George Count, American educational philosopher. Students cleaning up the school is another component of the school’s purpose to prepare the students to enter the community with the utmost respect. It teaches the students to become a member of society and take responsibility for themselves. Participating in this proposal should be a civil responsibility since it is the school that grants us education, we shouldn’t take it for granted and make a mess of the place.…
