High School Transformed
Imagine it is 1985 and you are helping the high school football team steal a statue’s foot from the school of your homecoming rivals. The reason the football team is sawing off the foot and stealing it is to burn it at the homecoming bonfire. Now let us fast-forward to present day. Imagine what would happen to your high school football team if you all decided to steal a statue’s foot from your homecoming rivals this year. The repercussions would be detrimental and most likely the football players involved would be suspended from school and from participating in the homecoming game. Most students choose to stay at school and eat, but juniors and seniors have the additional option to leave campus and eat elsewhere. Mainly, lunch serves four options of which to choose from: soup and sandwich, salad, taco, or main meal. Serving sizes and meal sides are more restricted currently. An example is ketchup, which is restricted to being served a certain amount of times each month because of nutritional standards set in place by the state. Although there are four options available at lunch, many students bring in their own cold lunch. Since so many students bring in cold lunches, most high schools bought microwaves for those that like to bring in hot …show more content…
During that seven hour period, students attended seven different courses. The courses were taught by a different teacher so after fifty minutes of class the students would then have to switch classes. Thirty years ago there was no opportunity for high school students to partake in college courses, therefore students only attended general high school courses. Back then it was easy to earn a high grade in class by simply turning in homework and attending class. Some students could pass without even turning in homework. Obviously, academics was not listed as a high priority thirty years ago. High school students were not pressured to earn a high score on the ACT test. In addition, the college decision did not stress many because in most cases individuals were easily accepted into his or her top college of
