High School Track Team

Improved Essays
My lifetime goal is to run in the Olympic for the US men’s national team. To achieve that goal I have joined my high school track team and a summer track team. I know that will not be enough to get me into the US men’s national team, that is why I am going to run track field in collage.

How joining a high school track team will help me reach my goal.
Being on a high school track team has tough me the basic of running track like, how to set my blocks, how to use my arms while I am running and many more fundamental things what all track runner must know, it has also tough me you can never be the best for ever, something will happen that will knock you off your throne, for example my first year running high school track as a freshmen I came into the new track season confident and excited, I instantly became the coach’s most promising student, I was put on varsity on my first track meet I ran the 100m and 200m I took 2nd overall in both events, after that I knew I was going to be the best runner at my high school. The year went on I kept on winning and was gaining confidents in my self, until I moved to a new high school that was in new state and learned that I would not be the star of the show anymore.

In the past four years, I have had many experiences with family, friends and an extreme amount of clubs, activities, and home life occasions I am involved in. But in all honesty sports have taught me a lot about people, life and even myself. I have been a part of many teams in my lifetime and played several abstract sports, but at Summit Academy High School the sports are very unique. There are mixed attitudes towards the teams, players and coaches that you would not see at any other school. But I like to call them obstacles and challenges.…

I agree Sara, great team is where the coaches are able to foster an environment that all the teammates to grow, learn, and work together. One simple solution could have been Coach P stepping up and selecting a leader or two, and letting the team know regardless of their personal biases, in order to be on the Varsity team, they will have to get rid of their ego's and come together collectively for the greater good of the team. I understand Coach P wanted to empower his crew members to figure it our themselves, but at what point do you be the coach and create a solution for the problem. I believe he waited too late to try to make adjustments, being 4 days away from nationals, it's hard to change the dynamics up of the team and expect them to…

I agree with you. Previously living in Phoenix, this was something I saw happen with the local high school cross country team each year when they would start training for the next school year during the hot Phoenix summer. You could always pick out those kids that were either freshman and new to running several miles or were out of shape. After a few weeks of training no one was getting sick any…

blah blah … To be an athletic trainer for a team in the Olympic games is my ultimate, long term goal. Athletic training has been a part of my life for several years now but on the opposite side as an athlete. In high school I was a part of a dance company and on the high school dance team, dancing around forty plus hours a week which resulted in several injuries, because of these injuries I was able to get my first glimpse into the athletic training world. Now in college, I am working with the University of Oklahoma’s Athletic Department and more specifically the softball team.…

The Lesson in Quitting For the past 7 years of my life, swimming has played a huge role. Growing up, I had always enjoyed being in the water, and was one of the odd kids that genuinely enjoyed swimming lessons, no bribes required (thinking about it, I wish I had some of those kids in the lessons I teach now). Overtime, it began to feel less like a passion and more like an obligation; something I had committed to that was too late to stop. I was afraid to quit, afraid to disappoint, and trying to be dedicated to a sport I had lost interest in made me start to hate it. This year, I finally decided to drop the sport, and am now embracing the huge change it has had in my life.…
