High School Students Vs American Students

Unlike American students, Korean students focus on education the most during the high school years. When most high school students enter into universities, once they attain their rights in adulthood, they focus more to enjoy their freedom. Most students drink alcohol to express their freedom and it became part of the Korean universities’ culture. Due to this reason, alcohol was necessary for most of the school events such as school field trips and explorations. But I wondered why students expressed their freedom through alcohol. I started to think about more constructive ways of expressing the adulthood and the freedom, and I came to a conclusion that the freedom can be used to explore one’s interest and dream through other activities. At first, I gathered a student meeting to make a compromise of prohibiting alcohol at the campus, and I organized several clubs. …show more content…
As students participated in different activities, it led them to express their freedom through constructive activities. Also, I organized and proceeded an autumn exploration. Students who participated the event corrected translation errors in explanation boards of historic sites with professors and sent the results to the community public institutions. One of the greatest contributions is that organizing and planning volunteering club for teaching English. I cooperated with the department dean to establish the volunteering club. We collaborated with few community public institutions to teach English to children who were not able to learn because of financial or family
