The economy of our world is gradually changing due to education becoming more and more widespread. High school students strive to earn the TOPS scholarship to help fraction off the cost and or burden of the real world. Today TOPS is described as a program of state scholarships for Louisiana residents who attend either one of the Louisiana Public Colleges or Universities. TOPS assurances Louisiana students the right to a state funded college education if they meet the core curriculum, ACT score, and cumulative grade point average requirements. When I was asked if I agree or disagree to the students who should or shouldn’t be required to pay back their TOPS scholarship if they drop out, I came to the conclusion that I oppose with making

All through high school we struggle with using our time wisely to overcome the obstacles that come with being a student and teenager. These obstacles are our schoolwork, sports or clubs we may be involved in, and our jobs. We juggle with all these things and find a way to make sure our school work is done which is our main priority. This way we stay on track to stay eligible to achieve the TOPS scholarship our senior year. By receiving this scholarship it ensures that a big part of the student’s tuition would be paid for. Not making students pay back their TOPS will save them from going into more debt if they drop out. Especially if the student has to drop out for financial reasons. According to a survey given through the Taylor Foundation, more students were striving to get a college education when they were given the opportunity to break the “financial barrier” (Taylor). If the student drops out for financial reasons then having to pay back the TOPS will only cause them to go into even more debt.
