In high school, teens try to fulfill high standards, but not all can. A high school student’s mental stability is more valuable than the public education system. They are 15-18 year old students not geniuses. They should live their lives, and not focus on being number one in their class. Most schools, instead of lowering their standards, actually raise them every year. In first grade, all teachers taught were the basics of math and reading. Now, first graders are on their second level of learning Spanish. Also, they are expected to know language arts, the STEM program, and higher level readings. Schools are starting to expect too much from students of such a young age.

Of course, there are people who argue that a proper education is more important than being happy. Students need to remain in school because the need an education to get a professional job and make a living. Stress and feeling over worked is just part of life, and they need to learn that lesson sooner or later. Students need to get straight A’s and join outside school activities to get into college. They receive scholarships when they focus only on school. Academic pressure is necessary because students learn to compete with each other, which becomes useful later in life. A little stress is helpful to a student because it motivates them to do better.

A student who is suffering from being on the verge of mentally ill due to school cannot feel secure in their life. Thousands of teens from different schools all over the world would rather kill themselves before ever going back.
