High School Student Mentoring Program

Improved Essays
A mentoring program is a very excellent social service need that can be vital in your community. That can also be a good idea for a program to take place in every person’s community. A mentoring program is important for high school students to take part of as they learn and prepare themselves for their journey in becoming a young adult. I agree with you when you mentioned that in your post. A mentor is good for high school students as being another form of a role model. A survey is a good form of documentation for students and their parent to fill out when informing them about a potential mentoring program in their community. The same also applies for getting different type of ideas from students on things to discuss and do when given a mentor. Your idea to speak to community leaders and school staff is also another important thing to do to gain their perspective on different aspects that are recommended for high school student.

The District Attorney, Mayor and other business and community leaders, seeking ways to help these youth, found the Partners model being used effectively in Denver as a youth-mentoring program. We have since changed our name to Partners Mentoring Youth and are an affiliate in the statewide Partners Mentoring Association (PMA).…

At Xavier University we believe in the “All for One and One for All” philosophy; showing that camaraderie and equality among all are still possible. One way Xavier lives up to its support for students is through the one-year long Smooth Transition mentoring program. I served as a smooth transition mentor to three incoming first-year students during the 2016-2017 academic year. In order to ensure that they have a successful first year at Xavier, I informed them about the resources Xavier University provides, including the writing center, mathematics lab, tutoring services, Ohio link, and much more. This will teach and show them that it's okay to take initiative sometimes and not be in someone else shadow. One last program that would be beneficial is the Young Men of Color Program where adolescents are shown that being an African American is something to be prod of because we have so much to offer to society.
