High School Sports Program Research Paper

Being a member of the Coudersport High School sports program has prepared me for the future immensely. Throughout my high school years I have participated in one particular sport yearly, and each year I learned something new. Everything I have learned from participating in the CHS sports program has been extremely valuable and will benefit me for the rest of my life. Some important things this program has taught me are teamwork, self confidence, and commitment.

Teamwork is a major skill you will develop when participating in almost any sport. Particularly the sport I have participated in has taught me a large amount about teamwork. Sometimes in order to do our best I had to put my teammates before myself. In the future, I will be put in many situations where I must work together with people of different backgrounds ethnicities and viewpoints. Participating in a team sport has taught me to set aside differences in order to achieve a common goal. It has taught me how rewarding it is when you identify every individual’s strength and utilize those strengths. There were many times I simply did not feel like going to practice or participating in something at a game or practice. This program taught me that when you are a part of something you must be completely committed to it, meaning sometimes you will have to do things that are not very enjoyable. It also taught me that once you start something, you need to finish it. Participating in sports has also taught me how to work hard.
