High School Sports Benefit Students

What would school be like without sports? Sports are very important to many students these days. For some students sports are a way to express themselves and relax after a long day of school. Even though they are a positive outlet for students, some are starting to wonder if sports are beneficial to high schoolers or if they just add more pressure. It is clear that high school sports are actually beneficial to students.
One reason sports benefit students is because they are a good way to improve life skills like time management and teamwork. According to coach Michael Lorence, Jesuit J.V. Coach, during the sports seasons the students’ grades don't drop because they are focused on being on the team and having a good school life. When students are forced to manage their free time during sports season, they have work on time management- an irreplaceable life skill. According to the video, “Sports: How Much is Too Much?”, athlete's grades were better during their sports seasons than in the off seasons. This fact is important because it shows how sports are beneficial to students, by helping them keep their grades up. Also, according to coach Michael Lorence, towards the end of the season, test scores and grades begin to drop. Sports clearly benefit student’s academic achievement.
In conclusion, high school sports are beneficial to students. They are a good way to develop life skills, create friendships, improve health, boost confidence, and keep grades in check. It is evident that there are many benefits of high school sports and that participating in sports will even make athletes better students in school.
