High School Ski Club Essay

I wanted to lead Alameda High School’s Ski Club since Freshmen year. Skiing is different from other sports. I love hearing the snow beneath my skis, and the views are breathtaking. I’ve been skiing since I was three years old and was ecstatic when I realized there was a Ski Club. I loved my first high school ski trip because of our communal bond over the love for snow. The following year, I was elected club President, but it just so happened, that all the upperclassmen graduated. A club of nineteen was now a club of three. In addition, the teacher, who facilitated the club for three years left our school and my Vice President left unexpectedly. With two people left in the club, I had a lot of work to do. In the past, the club only admitted experienced skiers, and I wanted to change that. I wanted the club to grow and open the community to others. I wanted to encourage students with no experience to join. I wanted to encourage students who cannot afford to join. I wanted to encourage students with special needs to join, because everyone deserves a chance to experience the sport. To start off sophomore year, I had to learn the ropes of high school while attempting to run a …show more content…
Skiing has been a big part of my life and it will continue to be. Leading this club gave me a chance to share my experience and joy with others. In the last two years of being President of the club, I have engaged with local businesses and community members, all of whom help support the club. I was shy and scared, but being President has prepared me for even greater challenges that lie ahead. While I am only a high schooler, leading the Ski Club empowered me to become a more diligent and capable woman, which in turn makes me feel more ready than ever for the

The most challenging leadership role I have undertaken is being President of the Sutherland Cancer Awareness Club. This is my first year as President and the Club has created a goal of raising $2,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society. I think this is achievable but will require a large amount of effort from each of the club's 55 members. The main difficulty is two-way communication with some members, particularly the younger students who are new to responsibility and don't always fulfil their commitments. I try to be a patient mentor and highlight the importance of persistent and consistent effort in achieving our goal.…

For the reactive flash volatilization (RFV) process based on the knowledge that the catalyst bed is preheated to high temperature, pyrolysis of the heated cellulose particles on the surface of the bed is expected to be fast enough that it will not be a rate-limiting step. Hence, the kinetics of the RFV of cellulose reduces to gasification of the produced volatile organic compounds (VOCs) on and in the catalyst bed. To represent the RFV of the VOCs from flash pyrolysis of cellulose, Aspen Plus has been used as the primary modelling tool. The main advantage of using Aspen Plus is that it dramatically reduces the time required for compilation and critical evaluation of properties of reaction components which underlie difficulties in process model development.…
