Your knowledge and ideas are rewarded whereas stealing someone else’s is punished. Employing an academic honor code to encourage creativity and dismiss dishonesty is much more meaningful if orchestrated by the students themselves. The code of conduct that embraces honesty and originality is perceived less as rules that restrict or confine students but more as the culture that they can be proud of.
