In 8th grade my father was offered the job of a life time, the only downside was, we had to pack up and move 800 miles from our home in Riverton, Illinois to Augusta, Georgia. All of my family lives in Springfield, Illinois so, the decision was extremely hard for my parents to make. My dad ended up taking the job, and in November, moved my family to Augusta, Georgia. With such a drastic change in my life, my parents decided to let me pick the school I wanted to go to. I looked and considered all of the schools in the Columbia County area. Every school had its pros and cons, however there was one school that looked incredible. It was Evans. Evans had over 100 clubs, diversity, sports galore, one of the best academic programs in the country and, if you finished high school with a 3.0 GPA, you would receive the Hope scholarship. …show more content…
My counselor took me around the massive school and introduced me to my teachers. She informed me that, because the school had so many students, we were split into 3 teams. Each team had around 100-150 students. She also told me that I was placed into the advanced team and that the classes were a lot more difficult and fast pace. I was extremely excited to start the day. Each class I went to I met more and more people, and began to realize the difficulty of these classes. By the end of the day I had about 6 hours’ worth of homework, however I had made my first real friend, which made the day worthwhile. Her name was Breyn
