To be part of a sport's team you have to be in good shape, because nobody wants someone who can't kick hard or fast enough to be in their team, lose a game. According to author Hank Hill being a part of a sport in school it prevents ''heart disease'' since you are basically working your heart which is a muscle so to keep it healthy, strong, and keep it from getting weak/ ill . Students who play sports who score, block, pass, basically put in team effort are more likely to have their responsibilities increase since they are more reliable than the other team players.
