Looking back on my high school years, I would advise someone who is beginning high school to make sure that they get good grades. This is because it will affect their grades the rest of their high school career. Some freshmen, feel that graduation is a very long time away. They feel that what they do as freshmen won't affect them later. In reality, time goes by fast when you're in high school. These people struggle later in life. It is possible though, to have bad grades freshman year but be successful later. Some people don't realize that this is a time in life that is crucial to how your life will be later. Some people just go through the motions, while others work hard towards their dreams. This is the difference between someone who …show more content…
The only thing you need is a consistent determination to be successful. There are students that are smart, but they are lazy and lack motivation to do their work. The best students always show up to school and do their best. They are not the smartest, but they always try their best. That's all anyone can ask of you, is to do your best.

Everyone has days where they ask themselves, is all of this even worth it, and what the point of everything is. I see things that motivate me every day. I live by Wesley hospital, and whenever I walk home I always see the doctors leaving in their brand new Mercedes Benzes, and $500 dollar suits. Then when I get home I see rundown cars and a beat up house. I am grateful for the things that I have, but I know that I can have a whole lot more if I work hard for it.
I think that high school and life in general is easier if you know what you want to do. You feel like your life has a sense of direction and that you are going to go somewhere and be a somebody. If someone doesn't know what they want to do after high school I would recommend that they join the military. They get a couple years to figure out what they want to do with their life and they get to go to college for

Students go through a lot of different stages in their lives during these four years including becoming mature, getting out of the awkward teenage years, but you never know when something or someone is going to offer you a drug or alcohol, or any other form of peer pressure. Being distracted or focused on the wrong things in high school won’t help you graduate, or even be successful, so they have to do what is best for their futures. Students in school need to focus and worry about the important things because, “In school, self-discipline is central.” (Wilce). Students need the self-discipline to focus on what is important in high school, and not the social aspect of it.…
