So, in “Mein Kampf,” Speiegelman is not only dealing with “Maus” overpowering and intimidating him. But, as hinted in my analysis, he is also dealing with a mid-life crisis and the loss of memory as he enters old age. He faces these problems by going into his mind, searching for these memories and reminiscing about them. It’s an interesting dynamic, the fact that he goes into his own mind to find the memories. Then he proceeds to relive or commiserate them inside his head instead of psychically.…

I teach "Introduction to Literature" and "Standard Freshman Composition" courses at Suffolk County Community College. I personally design both of my courses, which adhere to the mission statement of the college. In "Introduction to Literature," my students engage in imaginative works of literature, analyze major literary themes and forms, continue training in effective prose writing skills, and demonstrate maturity and thought and style when deconstructing literary elements such as image, plot, character, theme, and conflict. In "Standard Freshman Composition," I prepare my students to produce quality work that utilizes writing techniques, analyzes reading material, and incorporates research techniques that will aide them in their academic future. The outcomes of this course are for the student to be able to construct a central purpose in their expository work, to have coherent organization, improved writing mechanics, to formulate effective thesis statements that demonstrate complex thought, and to integrate relevant, cited sources into their work.…

For the student manifesto essay, I will be tackling multiple contemporary societal problems. I will give a brief history of how and why the problems have arisen, explain why the problems are critical, and give possible solutions, both short and long term. Some of the problems I plan on discussing are systematic and individual racism, the institution of policing, poverty, complexities of feminism, health inequity, ableism, prison abuse, and global inequality. All the problems I will talk about will be analyzed through lenses critiquing how capitalism, racism, and classism uphold the systems of injustice enacted by the State.…

It feels like so long ago when I first began this English course. I can remember being so excited about the class topic, racism and social justice, which I felt that I had a lot of passion for. Little did I know that I would have to gather up even more enthusiasm and passion to be able to continue writing papers about the same topic all semester long. This course has tested my endurance, and at many times my patience, and for that I am thankful because I know in the end, it has made me a better writer. Despite various minor challenges this semester I believe that I have put in the hard work that it takes and I have achieved the course goals and will complete this class feeling fulfilled and accomplished.…

Throughout the entire book a sense of separation is woven throughout. A main conflict and theme in The Help by Kathryn Stockett is racism. The white people manipulate the colored people, they are their maids, and they are merely seen as the help. The colored men and women are not viewed as humans with feelings and valid opinions just as objects and people that can cook and clean. So when people think that they are better than another person because of their race, their skin color, or their social class there will be contention and problems among people.…
