High School Nurse Career Analysis

During my high school sports career, I made a few hospital visits due to a dislocating shoulder. After multiple visits and a few surgeries, the people that I remember the most are the nurses. My surgeon was pleasant and the emergency room doctors were helpful, but the nurses were the ones who not only performed their job, but made me feel comfortable and confident, easing any fears I may have had. The professionalism and friendliness of the nurses that I met has pushed me to pursue a degree in nursing.
After joining Bandages for Raju my freshman year, while I was still a pre-medical major, the global importance of medical professionals became clear. It was also apparent that there was a surplus of doctors interested in giving their time overseas, but a lack of nurses. Good nurses are diligent, making sure their patients are taken care of and comfortable at the same time. They are able to communicate effectively and efficiently without creating tension. Although these characteristics can be learned, they come naturally to some. Florida State University has allowed me to showcase my hard work, leadership, and communication skills to my peers and professors. The amount of group work that is expected of students here at FSU separated those who lead and those who follow. I am a leader. Along with these characteristics, a good nurse is someone who has a drive to help people, someone who runs into the chaos to make a difference. I am constantly trying to help others; whether they are hurt, need someone to listen, or help with their school
