After joining Bandages for Raju my freshman year, while I was still a pre-medical major, the global importance of medical professionals became clear. It was also apparent that there was a surplus of doctors interested in giving their time overseas, but a lack of nurses. Good nurses are diligent, making sure their patients are taken care of and comfortable at the same time. They are able to communicate effectively and efficiently without creating tension. Although these characteristics can be learned, they come naturally to some. Florida State University has allowed me to showcase my hard work, leadership, and communication skills to my peers and professors. The amount of group work that is expected of students here at FSU separated those who lead and those who follow. I am a leader. Along with these characteristics, a good nurse is someone who has a drive to help people, someone who runs into the chaos to make a difference.
