In high school, the teachers would always say that they are preparing us for what we will be writing in college. That was not accurate at all in my case. When I took my first college literature class, I was doing things differently than I have been taught over the past several years. Both required you master your grammar and sentence structure, but that was the only similarity. In high school, you are taught to section your paper in to five paragraphs. You had to group your topics very broadly in order to get them to fit in the little space of three paragraphs you had available for information.
