High School Music Program Research Paper

A lot of things can contribute to a successful music program, but one of the central points of success comes from support from a school system’s administration. This success doesn't come from the monetary support but rather, patience to allow the band director to work. When band directors are rushed to achieve certain goals, they tend to cut corners and not build proper fundamentals. In an extended time period, this could ruin a band program and cause numbers, quality of players, and parental support to lower throughout the years. This room design is best designed for the common traffic problems of band halls. With the storage in the back of the room, students that are late do no necessarily distract students that are on task in the proper seats. This prevents any problems and potential outbursts from students being embarrassed by being seen by other students. Also, when students are sitting in their assigned seats, the only thing in front of them will be the conductor. This allows for the most efficient kind of instruction, because there are no potential distractions. Students can be completely zoned in on the instruction. If the teacher is effective in classroom management techniques, then there will be very few behavior problems. Some students will cut straight through other sections just to get to their chair, while other students will walk around everything as designed by the teacher. Luckily, most of this happens in the bell activity period so it’s not disrupting to the actual flow of class. During class, most students will follow the assigned traffic plans for the classroom in fear of being called out by the teacher. Students tend to only leave for personal reasons (i.e. call to the office, bathroom, etc.) so they are very unlikely to bring more attention to themselves than
